History

A resident contacted PTAC for the Village’s, along with IDOT’s, assistance in coming up with a better solution to ease up the traffic congestion in the surrounding areas and near the surrounding schools when the train signals are activated at the intersection of IL 7/Southwest Highway at 143^rd Street/Union Street.  It is the requestor’s observation that the amount of traffic from Union Street is far less than the traffic from 143^rd Street.

The requestor is aware that 143^rd Street is a state roadway and has already reached out to IDOT.  IDOT’s response to the request is listed under Additional Information below.

The resident is requesting to change the eastbound left-turn arrow to green on eastbound 143^rd Street at Union Street onto northbound Southwest Highway while the train signals are activated.
