As part of this initiative, Rich Miller, a non-sworn member of the department, was selected as the handler for Leo, the department’s therapy dog.
Since September 2021, Rich Miller has attended specialized therapy dog training and has remained responsible for Leo’s ongoing care. His duties include, but are not limited to, feeding, grooming, exercising, walking, and training Leo to ensure the highest standards of service and well-being.
Throughout this period, Rich Miller has dedicated his time and personal resources to the care and maintenance of Leo without receiving compensation. His commitment to the success of the Therapy Dog Program and the well-being of both Leo and the community is recognized and greatly appreciated by the Orland Park Police Department.
