Haraz Coffee House Car Show Event (100 people)
History
At the December 6, 2021, Board meeting, the Village Board approved an ordinance amending the Special Events Permit authorizing the Village Manager to approve events under 100 persons and requires Village Board approval for larger events. Special events held on Village grounds are processed through Recreation and Parks, while events held not on Village grounds are processed through Development Services.
Haraz Coffee House and CustomCars.com have submitted a Special Event Application to collaborate in hosting a family friendly car show on August 30, 2025, from 8:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. The event will take place in the parking lot of Haraz Coffee House located at 13137 S. LaGrange Road.
Financial Impact
All Village costs will be borne by the organizer. The organizer will be subject to all applicable permits, staffing and rental fees.
Recommended Action/Motion
In reviewing the application, Village staff, including the Police Department, are recommending denial of the application for the following reasons:
- The same organizer of the unsanctioned Cello Café show is the organizer for the Haraz Coffee Car show on August 30.
- Although the application states 100 people, the Cello Café show resulted in approximately 200 people.
- Thirteen (13) squad cars were called to Cello Café to control the scene.
- Existing parking on a Saturday evening would be inadequate to handle the number of vehicles that are expected (based on the Cello Café show).
