Title
No Parking Sign
(Palm Drive and Hemlock Drive)
History
A resident contacted PTAC due to safety concerns of dangerous blind spots to vehicle and pedestrian traffic when parents are picking up and dropping off their children at Kruse Elementary School and Kruse Education Center, which is located at the intersection of Palm Drive and Hemlock Drive. According to the resident, despite their being a ‘No Parking’ sign on the west side of Palm Drive between 7711 & 7713 Palm Drive, parents park on the west side of the street during drop-off and pick-up times, blocking their driveway and view of traffic, sidewalks and children crossing the street. Cars park on both sides of Palm Drive reducing it to one lane creating dangerous blink spots. There has been close calls that would have resulted in two collisions when drivers are turning from Hemlock Drive to Palm Drive who could not see their car.
The resident lives on the corner of this intersection and their view is regularly obstructed due to parked cars making it difficult to safely pull out of their driveway. The resident was almost hit by other vehicles because they could not see the car pulling out of the driveway. The cars parked in front of their home also make it difficult to safely turn onto Palm Drive due to not being able to see oncoming neighborhood traffic.
The resident is requesting the installation of a ‘No Parking on School Days’ sign in front of their home at 7703 Palm Drive. The home is located on the corner of Palm Drive and Hemlock Drive across the street from Kruse Elementary School and Kruse Education Center.
