Upon responding to a complaint on Union Avenue in Old Orland Historic District, an Orland Park Police Officer discovered that the ‘No Parking’ signs within this area are inconsistent by displaying 3 different messages causing confusion to drivers. The Village recently installed new signs on 143rd Street that read “NO PARKING / EXCEPT VEHICLES DISPLAYING OLD ORLAND PARKING PERMIT / TOW-AWAY ZONE” while older signs display “3 HOUR PARKING / 6 AM TO 9 AM MON-FRI / OLD ORLAND” OR “3 HOUR PARKING ONLY 6 AM TO 12 PM MON-FRI / OLD ORLAND”.
The Orland Park Police Department recommends replacing the older signs with the new signs that read “NO PARKING / EXCEPT VEHICLES DISPLAYING OLD ORLAND PARKING PERMIT / TOW-AWAY ZONE” to better clarify the no parking guidelines throughout the area.
