Title/Name/Summary
151st Street Bridge over Tinley Creek - Phase II Engineering Services
History
The Village owns and maintains eight (8) bridges throughout the municipality. Each bridge has a specific inspection interval to follow, which is either twenty-four (24), forty-eight (48) or sixty (60) months. The last round of inspections was completed in June of 2025.
HR Green, Inc. (“HRG”) has performed these bridge inspections for the Village for the last ten (10) years and has identified the bridge on 151st Street over Tinley Creek as needing repairs. While the defects are not substantial enough for a lower bridge rating, the Village is being proactive to correct the issues and stop further degradation.
Due to HRG having extensive knowledge and inspection documentation, they have been identified as the most qualified to provide a detailed Bridge Condition Report (BCR), a Reconstruction Plan, and construction drawings for the necessary repairs. This report and plan will allow the Village to identify potential funding sources and solicit bids to make long term repairs to the 151st St. bridge over Tinley Creek prior to the road reconstruction of 151st Street in 2031.
HRG is a firm that has established a proficient and professional relationship with the Village for several years. HRG has provided excellent construction management services and bridge inspections and repair guidance since 2016, and has augmented Public Works management of infrastructure improvement.
Within the last ten (10) years, HRG served as the construction inspection firm for the following:
- 2012 through 2013 construction of the 156th Street road extension from Ravinia Avenue to LaGrange Road. This was a challenging road construction project due to the very poor soils in the region.
- 2016 reconstruction of road crossing culverts beneath Orlanbrook Drive serving Park Hill and Orlan Brook condo subdivisions
- 2017 replacement of the Wheeler Drive bridge deck over Tinley Creek, adja...
