Special Event Permit for Irish Patriot Block Party (100 people)
History
At the December 6, 2021, Board meeting, the Village Board approved an ordinance amending the Special Events Permit authorizing the Village Manager to approve events under 100 persons and requires Village Board approval for larger events. Special events held on Village grounds are processed through Recreation and Parks, while events held not on Village grounds are processed through Development Services.
Irish Patriot has submitted a permit application to host a block party closing off a section of Union Street. They will be transforming the space outside into an extension of their patio area featuring extra outdoor seating, yard games, carnival games, and live entertainment. The event will take place September 19, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. A detailed security plan has been discussed with the Village Manager's Office, Orland Park Police, and Orland Fire.
Financial Impact
The organizer will be subject to all applicable permits, staffing, and rental fees.
Recommended Action/Motion
I move to approve permitting Irish Patriot to host a block party September 19, 2026, contingent upon meeting all of the Village's permitting requirements, payment of fees, and inspections.
AND
Authorize the Village Manager to execute a security agreement between the Village and St. Michael Parish, subject to Village Attorney review.
