Ravinia Avenue South Extension, Phase II Design Engineering, Contract Amendment, Supplement #3
History
On June 16, 2025, the Village Board awarded Ravinia Avenue South Extension, Phase II Design Engineering to V3 Companies, Ltd. (V3) for the design engineering services to extend Ravinia Avenue south of 159th Street and connect it to LaGrange Road at 161st Street.
On March 16, 2026, the Village Board approved an amendment (Supplement #1) to the contract to include the design of a median closure and left-turn lane extension at the west leg of the intersection of 159th Street and LaGrange Road. The need to extend the turn lane and close the median arose as the Village evaluated overall traffic operations in the area and through coordination with IDOT. The existing left-turn lane does not provide the required vehicular storage and this condition is expected to be exacerbated by continued development in the surrounding area and overall traffic growth in future years.
On May 14, 2026, the Village Board approved an amendment (Supplement #2) to add a right turn lane from eastbound 159th Street to southbound Ravinia Avenue to the design scope at the request of IDOT.
At this time, another amendment is proposed after coordination with Lake View Plaza ownership. Rather than completely closing the left turn lane, the plaza owner has requested that it be relocated further west so that left-in access is retained. Left-out movements will not be allowed. This supplement is for the effort required to modify the design within the right-of-way. Lake View Plaza will be responsible for redesigning their parking lot to accommodate the new turn lane location.
Financial Impact
The fee for additional services provided in the proposed Supplement #3 is $38,928.00, based on an hourly not-to-exceed structure. There are sufficient funds in the FY2026 Engineering Capital Budget for this scope of work.
