Orland Park Pickleball Courts and Parking Expansion, Design Engineering, Contract Amendment, Supplement #1
History
On April 6, 2026, the Village Board awarded the Orland Park Pickleball Courts and Parking Expansion, Design Engineering contract to Gewalt Hamilton Associates, Inc. The original scope of services included the design of at least ten (10) outdoor pickleball courts at Centennial Park, four (4) outdoor pickleball courts at the Sportsplex site, and an expanded parking lot at the Centennial Park Ice Skating Rink.
Following finalization of the proposed design for Centennial Park, the project now includes alternate an alternate design for a pavilion, restroom facilities, a multi-purpose storage room, a food truck area, sanitary sewer extension and connection, a water service extension and connection, aesthetic landscaping, pickleball court-area enhancements, existing volleyball court evaluation at Centennial Park, regional detention basin verification study, design of two tennis courts, and an open-air pre-engineered metal building. These additional items require civil engineering, architectural design, and landscape architecture services that were not included in the original contract scope.
Once the design is complete and construction documents are ready to advertise for bidding, the pickleball courts will be bid as the base bid, and all other elements will be bid as alternate items.
Financial Impact
The fee for additional services provided in the proposed Supplement #1 is $278,000.00, based on an hourly not-to-exceed structure. There are sufficient funds in the FY2026 Engineering Capital Budget for this scope of work.
Recommended Action/Motion
I move to approve a contract amendment with Gewalt Hamilton Associates, Inc. to increase the total not-to-exceed contract amount by $278,000.00, and as fully presented.
