Title
Sportsplex Fitness Equipment Purchase
History
The Village's Sportsplex includes a 10,000 sq. ft. fitness center featuring more than 130 pieces of cardio and strength equipment. Membership includes use of the fitness center, indoor track, gyms, turf field, climbing wall, group fitness classes and locker rooms, as well as discounted fees for specialty classes and childcare services.
The Sportsplex boasts a membership of over 3,100, is projected to earn net revenues of $1,812,920 in 2026 and serves 208,813 as a facility on a yearly basis.
To continue to attract and retain members, staff seek to replace three outdated and frequently out-of-order three treadmills, one purchased in 2009 and two purchased in 2013. These treadmills have exceeded their useful life, require increasingly frequent repairs, and no longer meet member expectations for reliability or modern functionality.
Additionally, staff seek to replace the underutilized Queenax station. In a recent survey of Sportsplex members, 124 of 139 survey respondents indicated no use of this multi-station functional training rig.
Staff seeks to purchase three Life Fitness Aspire SE4 16 treadmills and three Life Fitness cable motion dual adjustable pulley systems with storage units through Life Fitness using Sourcewell contract #052324-LFF.
Life Fitness & Hammer Strength is the sole vendor of new Life Fitness & Hammer Strength commercial equipment and related services to specific geographical areas and market segments within the United States including Orland Park (see attached Sole Source Letter).
The Aspire SE4 16 is a mid-premium commercial treadmill that fits the goals of durability, member satisfaction and value. The Aspire is a solid "workhorse" treadmill with proven FlexDeck cushioning that reduces joint impact, includes a modern touch screen with streaming and workout content.
The Aspire line will enhance the member experience with improved performance, updated technology and greater long-term durability.
The Life Fitness cable piece is considered to be one of the highest-utilization pieces on a fitness floor due to its multi-functions. This system allows users to perform ten different exercises. It serves beginners through advanced users, supports personal training and small-group training, appeals to active older adults, athletes and general fitness users.
Staff seek approval to purchase three Life Fitness Aspire SE4 16 treadmills and three Life Fitness cable motion dual adjustable pulley systems with storage units through Life Fitness using Sourcewell contract #052324-LFF at a cost of $49,730.35 including freight, installation and surcharge (see attached quote #CPQ-44139).
