OVERVIEW AND BACKGROUND
The 2008 Residential Area Intensive Survey indicates that this building was constructed in 2000. The building is considered a Non-Contributing Structure to the Old Orland Historic District per Section 6-209 of the Land Development Code.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION & CONTEXT
The petitioner proposes to replace the existing asphalt shingle roof on the house with
Timberline shingles in the color onyx black, which is a color similar to the existing roof. They are proposing to replace the gutters, downspouts, light fixtures in the rear of the home, and to install white aluminum window wraps to match the existing color scheme of the home.
Section 6-209.F.3.e.1 states “New or replacement roofs of wood or asphalt shingles are appropriate...Asphalt shingles should be simple, flat and smooth, and in an appropriate color.” The proposed replacement roof material is appropriate and is similar in appearance to the existing shingles.
Per Section 6-209.G., changes to roofs are considered a minor change, which requires an administrative Certificate of Appropriateness review for Non-Contributing Structures in the OOH District.
Overall, the project conforms to the Village’s Comprehensive Plan, Land Development Codes and policies for this area.
