PLANNING OVERVIEW
In April 2024, the petitioner had informed the Village that in response to the residents’ feedback, the petitioner would like to install a dog park in lieu of a sand volleyball court that was approved by the Village Board of Trustees. At that time, Village staff had informed the petitioner that they would need Appearance Review and Fence Permit approvals prior to performing the work. In early 2025, the dog park was installed without a fence permit or an Appearance Review, and the petitioner is now retroactively seeking an Appearance Review approval.
The petitioner is proposing a 6200 SF dog park with an 8’x8’ vestibule/unleashing area. The dog park is located between the clubhouse and the pickleball courts, and is accessible via the existing network of sidewalks. The dog park will be fenced in with a 5’ tall ornamental metal fence, and will be surfaced with a combination of 8” deep topsoil with sod around the perimeter, and with 8” deep playground mulch in the middle of the dog park.
Per the Land Development Code, Section 6-305 Landscape and Tree Preservation, all mulch should be made of organic materials, synthetic or colorized mulch is not permitted.
