History
The 2007/08 Fiscal Year Budget has a Board approved line item in the amount of $32,000 for the purchase of a replacement Evidence Van for the Orland Park Police Department. The replacement van will be a One (1) Ton Extended Wheelbase Cargo Van equipped with an interior suitable for evidence collection. The van due for replacement is a 1996 Dodge Short Wheelbase 1/2 Ton Cargo Van with 22,700 miles.
Legal notice ran in the Daily SouthtownStar Newspaper on Tuesday, July 1, 2008. In addition, bid packets were sent to four vendors. In return, four bids were received with one bid returned as a “No Bid.” Sealed bids were opened by the Village Clerk’s Office on Thursday, July 17, 2008.
The bid price of $28,471.32 from Advantage Chevrolet of Hodgkins, Illinois, was for the van only and did not include the $3,193 cost of the interior. Adding the cost of the interior would bring the total cost of the van to $31,664.32. Therefore, Bill Jacobs Joliet LLC of Joliet, Illinois, was the lowest qualified bidder for a 2009 Chevrolet 3500 Express Cargo Van equipped with a Weather Guard interior. Their bid price was $29,710 - $2,290 under budget and met the specifications as written.
On August 11, 2008, this item was reviewed and approved by the Public Works and Engineering Committee and referred to the Board for approval.

I move to approve awarding the bid for the purchase of a 2009 Chevrolet 3500 Express Cargo Van equipped a Weather Guard interior for the Police Department to Bill Jacobs Joliet LLC of Joliet, Illinois, for an amount not to exceed $29,710.
