PROJECT DESCRIPTION & CONTEXT
The Petitioner proposes to remove the existing playground equipment, install synthetic turf and pour-in-place rubber surfacing and install new playground equipment. The current playground occupies approximately 9,900 square feet on the southwest corner of the lot. The playground area will not be expanded or re-located.
DETAILED PLANNING DISCUSSION
The petitioner proposes to remove the existing playground equipment, replace the existing wood fiber mulch with synthetic turf and pour-in-place rubber surfacing, and install new playground equipment. The play area will remain in the same place and will continue its current size of approximately 9,900 square feet.
As shown on the site plan and rendering, the new playground equipment will include swings, slides, climbing structures, 2 music stations, and 2 spinning carousels.
There are no other changes proposed to the site. The playground area measures approximately 16 ft from the western lot line thereby meeting the setback requirements.
Fences
All temporary fences shall not remain longer than 6 months. The petitioner proposes to install a 6’ construction fence with one 20’ gate as an equipment entrance alongside an erosion control silt fence. Temporary slit fences used for the purposes for erosion control during construction is allowed under the Land Development Code Section 6-310.B.d.
Recommended Action/Motion
The Appearance Review for Meadow Ridge School Playground Removal & Replacement case number 2025-0289, as shown in the plans submitted by the petitioner on April 2, 2025, has been administratively approved on April 7, 2025, subject to the following conditions:
1) Secure a Building Permit and meet all Building Code requirements.
