OVERVIEW AND BACKGROUND

The two-story, detached single family home is a Non-Contributing Structure in the Old Orland Historic District per Section 6-209 of the Land Development Code.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION & CONTEXT

The petitioner is proposing a like-for-like replacement of existing front porch, entry stairs and hand rail with composite wood (Trex) deck boards, stairs and railing. The existing layout, location, design and size of the front porch, stairs and hand rails to remain the same. The composite porch decking material is to resemble real wood, and the existing white color wood handrails to be replaced with white composite wood handrails.

The Land Development Code, Section 6-209 Old Orland Historic District, Deteriorated Architectural Features, states that if the severity of deterioration requires replacement, new material should match the historic material being replaced in composition, design, color, texture and other visual qualities.

Overall, the project conforms to the Village’s Comprehensive Plan, Land Development Codes and policies for this area.
