PROJECT DESCRIPTION & CONTEXT
The petitioner proposes to modify the site by installing a clearance bar, a shade canopy, 4 bollards, and applying graphics to the parking lot to assist with vehicular traffic.
The clearance bar will be installed in the drive-through, near the menu board. The height of the clearance bar will be 10’3”. In front of the clearance bar will be one non-illuminated bollard. Three non-illuminated bollards will be installed in the parking lot for parking signage. The clearance bar meets the requirements listed in 6-307.D.16.
A canopy will be installed over the preview board/order conformation point in the drive-through. The canopy will be 10’3” in height. The canopy is permitted to be installed in the building setback area as it meets the design standards listed in 6-212.E.1.g.
Overall, the project conforms to the Village’s Comprehensive Plan, Land Development Codes and policies for this area.
SIGNAGE
The plans as submitted indicate directional signage, a menu board, and a preview board to be installed. This appearance review does not include signage and all signage must be reviewed and approved through a separate sign permit process.
ENGINEERING
Village of Orland Park Engineering raised concerns to the petitioner regarding the intensity of vehicular traffic at the site. Engineering reiterated that Starbucks traffic intensity shall not impeded the flow of traffic on the site nor shall it create congestion onto the service drive.
Recommended Action/Motion
The Appearance Review for the Starbucks Coffee at 14209 LaGrange Road, case number 2024-0329 as shown on the plans submitted titled “Orland Park 143RD & LaGrange”, has been administratively approved on 06/06/24, subject to the following conditions:
1) Meet all Building and Land Development Code requirements.
2) Submit separate sign permits for any signage show on plans.
