Rejection of proposals for Design Services for Splash Pad & Indoor Pool
History
On June 5, 2015, Village staff prepared an RFP seeking proposals for professional architectural services for conceptual design services at the Village's Centennial Park Aquatic Center (CPAC) and Sportsplex. This concept planning exercise was intended to provide budget estimates only for future capital budget consideration by the Village Board. Funds for design/engineering services were included in the FY2015 budget for the lap pool and locker room improvements at the Sportsplex, in the amount of $65,000, and for the splash pad, in the amount of $20,000.
Six proposals were received for the conceptual design of the splash pad and indoor lap pool. An evaluation of the proposals was completed based on the best overall value including experience, expertise in aquatic design services, operating history, qualifications, pricing, responsiveness to the RFP and the experience of the village and other purchasers with the proposers.
After the initial review of the six proposals, it was determined that the top two vendors should be brought in for an interview. Following interviews, staff began to prepare a recommendation, however it was determined that the project would need to be deferred and an emphasis would instead be placed on the master planning of Centennial Park.
The RFP for Centennial Park Master Planning is currently being prepared. Though this project will not include the concept plan for the splash pad at the CPAC, the master plan can include siting a location for the amenity.
As the original concept design project will not be advancing at this time, it is recommended that the proposals be formally rejected.
