2008 Road Improvement Program - Bid Award
History
The annual Road Improvement Program has a Board approved line item in the amount of $1,050,000 in the Fiscal Year 2007/08 Budget. The project consists of milling the existing surface, overlaying the final lift of streets in various subdivisions throughout the Village and the reconstruction of portions of Ravinia Avenue. In addition, curbs are replaced or repaired on an as-needed basis and hazardous sidewalks are replaced. Storm sewer underdrains will be installed in various locations within the area where excessive groundwater may cause premature pavement failure. This project also includes final patching and restriping throughout the Village.
Bids were advertised in the Daily SouthtownStar Newspaper on Tuesday, February 19, 2008. Six companies remitted a bid proposal. Sealed bids were opened by the Clerkâs Office on Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. Bid proposals were received from: Alpha Construction Co. of Hazel Crest, Illinois; Central Blacktop Co., Inc. of LaGrange, Illinois; Crowley-Sheppard Asphalt, Inc. of Chicago Ridge, Illinois, James D. Fiala Paving Co., Inc. of Bolingbrook, Illinois, Gallagher Asphalt Corporation of Thornton, Illinois, and K-Five Construction Corp. of Lemont Illinois. Alpha Construction Co. was the low bidder at $1,371,672.25. Therefore, it is recommended that Alpha Construction Co. be awarded the bid.
On March 10, 2008, this item was reviewed and approved by the Public Works and Engineering Committee and referred to the Board for approval with the addition of excess funds in the amount of $59,750.00 from the Parkway Trees account and the Streetlights account.
