Temporary Staff Engineering Position in the Engineering Department
History
The Engineering Department is requesting temporary contract engineering services to assist with a high volume of ongoing projects. Christopher B. Burke Engineering, Ltd. (CBBEL) has offered an appropriately experienced civil engineer to support the department on an hourly basis for approximately three months. The contract engineer will assist with routine tasks such as development and permit reviews, grading plan evaluations, RFP preparation, code updates, and attendance at Planning Commission meetings. CBBEL will fully cover all paid time off, sick leave, and holidays for this engineer.
Financial Impact
CBBEL has provided an estimated cost of $97,280 for 12 full weeks and one 4-day week of engineering staff services. The costs will be adjusted based upon the actual time spent by the Engineer at the Village. An amendment will be requested when the next budget amendment will be presented to the Board.
Recommended Action/Motion
I move to approve the proposal, dated July 28, 2026, presented by Christopher B. Burke Engineering, Ltd. for a temporary civil engineer staff position for the total not-to-exceed contract amount by $97,280;
AND
Authorize the Village Manager to execute all related contracts, subject to Village attorney review.
