K9s for Veterans Donation
History
The 2025 Mayor's Golf Classic generated ~ $24,000.00 in net revenue. Net revenues generated by the golf outing intended to be are distributed to veteran organizations including VFW, Veterans Voices and American Legion. Each organization utilizes the funds for various other veteran's causes.
The Veteran Advisory Board regularly recommends donations to organizations that directly support veterans. The donation funds are generated from the net funds of the annual golf classic. Past donations have included Moraine Valley Community College for Orland Park Veterans Commission Scholarships, the Jesse Brown VA center and Honor Flight.
Approval is recommend to donate $3,000.00 to K9s for Vets of Plainfield, IL.
K9s for Veterans mission is to help veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) transition back to civilian life once their military service has ended with the help of trained service dogs. This may benefit a veteran in Orland Park should that veteran need a service dog. In 2025, the Veterans Commission donated $2,500.00 to K9's for Veterans.
Financial Impact
Net funds generated from the 2025 Mayors Golf Classic will be utilized for this donation.
Recommended Action/Motion
I move to approve and authorize a $3,000.00 donation to K9s for Veterans of Plainfield, IL to support the training of service dogs provided to veterans with PTSD.
