2010 Road Improvement Program - Approval
History
This item was discussed at the May 3, 2010, Public Works and Engineering Committee meeting as part of the Capital Improvement Program discussion. At the May 3, 2010, meeting, staff recommended and requested funding for the 2010 Road Program equal to the contractor’s bid of $2,277,936.25. This request resulted in $128,863.75 remaining as budgeted but unobligated in the roadwork fund.
The Public Works Department is now requesting that those additional funds be added to the Crowley-Sheppard Asphalt, Inc. (low bidder) existing Purchase Order in order to rehab and/or repair as many areas as possible this year. This item is being brought to the Board for approval of the additional scope of work and utilization of already budgeted funds to take advantage of 2010 unit pricing.
On July 6, 2010, this item was reviewed and approved by the Public Works and Engineering Committee and referred to the Board for approval.
Financial Impact
The Fiscal Year 2010 Budget has a Board approved line item (054-0000-499.71-25) in the amount of $2,406,800 for the Road Resurfacing Program.
Recommended Action/Motion
I move to approve increasing the value of the Crowley-Sheppard Asphalt, Inc. contract by $128,863.75 not to exceed the value of $2,406,800 for the 2010 Road Improvement Program.
