Quarterly Economic Development Update - ORACLE Meeting Summary
History
As part of the Village's renewed emphasis on transparency and resident engagement, the Village is going to start presenting quarterly economic development updates at the Committee of the Whole. The following is a summary of a meeting that was hosted by the Village where multiple Village projects and economic development projects were presented to the local taxing jurisdictions.
On June 24, 2026 the Village of Orland Park hosted the inaugural meeting of the Orland-Area Regional Alliance for Collaboration and Engagement (ORACLE) with the local taxing jurisdictions that represent Orland Park. Members of the Village Board, Orland School District 135, Consolidated School District 230, Orland Park Library, the Orland Fire Protection District, Moraine Valley Community College, and Orland Township were present at the meeting.
The intent of ORACLE is to establish an annual forum that strengthens cooperation among local governments, improves transparency, and improves service delivery for Orland area residents, and reviews shared priorities and goals. The forum reviewed proposed developments and their land use implications, discussed major road infrastructure projects, explained economic development tools and policies, explore opportunities for partnership and a commitment to open communication. The projects discussed are listed below, with an update on the project since the time of the meeting.
Downtown Orland Park - Heroes Park under review by the Village, earthwork for the park to start in a few weeks.
Downtown Orland Park East TIF - This TIF is planned for January 2027.
Dick’s House of Sports TIF - Plans for entitlement have been submitted and are under review. The TIF is planned for adoption in January of 2027.
Amazon Retail Store - Amazon has begun site work and was issued a full building permit. The former Petey’s II restaurant will be demolished in the coming week...
