"Speed Enforcer" Automated Speed Enforcement System
History
The Village of Orland Park has identified speeding on LaGrange Road and other major arterial roadways as an ongoing public safety concern. To address this issue, the Village has implemented a comprehensive approach that includes increased traffic enforcement by the Orland Park Police Department, participation in regional traffic safety initiatives with neighboring communities, and the evaluation of additional traffic safety measures designed to improve compliance with posted speed limits.
As part of the Village's continued commitment to improving roadway safety, staff has identified Dacra Adjudication Systems, LLC d/b/a Dacra Tech, LLC as the sole source provider of the "Speed Enforcer" Automated Speed Enforcement System. The proposed system has an annual cost of $150,000.00 which includes the installation and maintenance of four (4) speed enforcement cameras, automated event image processing, system integration and support, processing center validation, owner look-up services, and the processing and mailing of up to 1,500 notices per month.
The system will supplement the Police Department's existing traffic enforcement efforts by promoting compliance with posted speed limits, increasing driver awareness, and enhancing public safety on the Village's primary arterial roadways.
Staff has determined that Dacra Tech, LLC is uniquely qualified to provide the proprietary integrated platform, including the equipment, software, processing services, and ongoing support necessary to implement the Village's automated speed enforcement program.
