Urwin Building Demolition - ITB #26-038
History
The Urwin Building is a masonry structure formerly used as an announcing booth and is located within the John Humphrey Complex at 14825 West Avenue, Orland Park, IL 60462. On June 12, 2026, the Village issued Invitation to Bid (ITB) #26-038 “Urwin Building Demolition”, requesting bids for the demolition and proper disposal of the Urwin Building. The scope of work also requires the site to be backfilled to existing grade with asphalt. In addition, the existing memorial plaque is to be removed and set aside for the Village to repurpose. Demolition work will be scheduled for this Fall after the athletic season has concluded at the Complex.
During the two (2) weeks that the solicitation was open for review, forty-one (41) firms downloaded either partial or complete bid packages. ITB #26-038 was opened on July 8, 2026, at which point two (2) vendors submitted bids. All qualifying bid packages and an audit of the bid submittals are attached for reference. A summary of the bid prices is provided below.

As such, the Public Works Department is requesting approval of the bid from KLF Enterprises, Inc. for ITB #26-038 “Urwin Building Demolition” for $39,000.00. A 10% contingency of $3,900.00 is requested to address change orders made necessary by circumstances not reasonably foreseeable at the time the proposals are signed, for a total contract price not to exceed $42,900.00.
Financial Impact
Funds in the amount of $85,000.00 are available in FY2026 capital account 3008010-570100 for this project.
Recommended Action/Motion
I move to approve the contract with KLF Enterprises, Inc. in the amount of $39,000.00 plus a $3,900.00 contingency for a total not-to-exceed contract price of $42,900.00, and as fully presented.
