History

The 2006/2007 Fiscal Year Budget has a Board approved line item in the amount of $8,500 in the Public Works Utility Division budget for the purchase of a vibratory compactor attachment for the Utilities Division backhoe.  This compactor will help to shorten the restoration time of major utility repairs by compacting the backfill instead of having it settle on its own.

 

Although quotes were requested from two vendors for an Allied Hopac Model 1000-BSF Compactor, only one quote was received.  Martin Implement Sales of Orland Park, Illinois (the local distributor), submitted a quote of $7,036 for an Allied Hopac Model 1000-BSF Compactor. 

 

On September 10, 2007, this item was reviewed and approved by the Public Works and Engineering Committee and referred to the Board for approval.

Financial Impact

There is $8,500 budgeted for the vibratory compactor (Account #031-6002-433.60-45).  The proposed price of $7,036 is $1,464 under budget.

 

Recommended Action/Motion

I move to approve the purchase of an Allied Hopac Model 1000-BSF Compactor for the Utility Division of the Public Works Department from Martin Implement Sales of Orland Park, Illinois, for an amount not to exceed $7,036.
