Krause Construction, Inc. Change Order #4 and Contract Amendment D
History
On April 21, 2025, the Village Board approved awarding a contract (Legistar #2025-0332) to Krause Construction, Inc (Krause) for renovations to John Humphrey House at a not-to-exceed amount of $900,000.00. ($881,667.00 plus $18,333.00 of contingency).
Contract Amendment A and change Order 1 was executed December 18, 2025 to install a floor drain vent, fire alarm and security conduit, and to replace a broken cast-iron waste pipe. The change order authorized the use of $18,333.00 of contingency and an additional $12,798.00, for a revised not to exceed contract amount of $912,798.00.
Contract Amendment B and Change Order 2 was executed February 2, 2026, increasing the contract by $5,328 to replace non-code compliant button style light switches with code compliant period appropriate switches and cover plates for a revised not to exceed contract amount of $918,126.00.
Contract Amendment C and Change Order 3 was executed on April 9, 2026 to extend the contract with Krause to October 16, 2026.
During a recent inspection, it was identified that the existing shower is not functional failing to meet Village code. This change order is necessary to achieve code compliance.
The attached proposal from Krause Construction In. for $6,769.00 is to investigate and repair the shower to meet Village code requirements.
Staff seek approval to execute contract Amendment D and Change Order 4 increasing the contract total by $6,769.00 for a new not to exceed amount of $924,895.00

I move to approve and authorize the execution of Change Order #4 and Contract Addendum D with Krause Construction, Inc of Blue Island, IL to repair the shower in the John Humphrey House and to increase the total not to exceed contract amount to $924,895.00 and as fully presented.
