159th Street Overhead Utility Burial - Agreement with Comcast
History
Staff have been coordinating with ComEd, Comcast, and AT&T on a project to underground the existing overhead utility facilities on the south side of 159th Street from west of Costco to LaGrange Road, as shown on the attached exhibit. The Village must execute separate work orders with each utility to complete the underground conversion. Undergrounding these facilities will enhance the reliability and resiliency of the electrical distribution system improve the appearance of the corridor, complement all the recent development/redevelopment in the area, reduce conflict with future roadway improvements, and improve the appearance of the corridor.
This agreement is with Comcast for the relocation of its facilities along the project corridor. Comcast has provided a construction invoice in the amount of $168,685.24 for the relocation work. The agreement also notes that up to an additional 10% may be invoiced based on the actual project cost. Approval of this agreement will allow Comcast to proceed with the construction of its portion of the underground utility conversion, pending the completion of ComEd and AT&T's designs.
Financial Impact
The fee for Comcast's relocation is $168,685.24. The agreement also permits a 10% contingency, if necessary, for a maximum project cost of $185,553.76. This will be paid for through TIF funds.

I move to approve the an agreement with Comcast Cable Communications, Inc. in an amount not to exceed $168,685.24, plus a $16,868.52 project contingency, and as fully presented.
