Temporary Staff Engineering Position in the Engineering Department, Contract Amendment, Supplement #1
History
The Engineering Department is requesting a two-week extension of temporary contract engineering services to continue assisting with the high volume of ongoing projects. Christopher B. Burke Engineering, Ltd. (CBBEL) has been providing an experienced civil engineer to support the department on an hourly basis for the past three months. The contract engineer has been assisting with routine tasks such as development and permit reviews, grading plan evaluations, RFP preparation, code updates, and attendance at the Plan Commission meetings. CBBEL will continue to fully cover all paid time off, sick leave, and holidays for this engineer.
The Village is actively interviewing candidates for a permanent staff engineer position. This extension will help maintain department operations until the position is filled.
Financial Impact
CBBEL has provided an estimated cost of $15,200 for 2 full weeks from November 2 through November 13, 2026. The costs will be adjusted based upon the actual time spent by the Engineer at the Village. An amendment will be requested when the next budget amendment will be presented to the Board.
Recommended Action/Motion
I move to approve Supplement #1 with CBBEL for a not-to-exceed amount of $15,200.00, and as fully presented.

I move to approve and authorize the execution of Change Order #1 / Addendum A to the Employee Leasing Agreement with Christopher B. Burke Engineering, Ltd. of Rosemont, IL, for the temporary staff engineer position to increase the total not-to-exceed contract amount by $15,200.00 for the scope of services outlined in the attached proposal dated October 22, 2026, for a revised total not-to-exceed contract amount of $112,480 and extend the contract termination date from October 30, 2026 to November 13, 2026;
