Review of Ethics Ordinance
History
In May 2019, the Village Board created the Ad Hoc Ethics Committee. The purpose of the Committee was to review the village's existing ethics oridinace and determine what improvements should be made and what should be updated.
The Committee met numerous times and drafted an Ethics Ordinance. The draft was presented to the Village Board on March 2, 2020. It was recommended for the elected officials and commission members to receive a copy of the draft Ethics Ordinance and PowerPoint presentation to review and provide any feedback or recommendations.
The Committee met and reviewed the feedback received. There were some corrections made to the draft after reviewing the comments. It was determined that the Committee should meet one more time to review these corrections to the ethics ordinance prior to presenting it to the Board of Trustees.
Recommended Action/Motion
I move to recommend to the Village Board to review the revised ethics ordinance but to approve at subsequent date.
