Illinois Prep Top Timing Catch the Elf 5K and 10K Special Event Permit
History
Illinois Prep Top Timing has submitted a Special Event permit request to host a 5K and 10K race on Saturday, December 19, 2026. The event will be staged at the Centennial Park Pavilion by Soccer Field 2 along with utilizing the park’s paths. The race will kick-off and finish in the 153rd Street Metra parking lot (see attached race map). Proceeds will benefit Toy Box Connection Children’s Charity.
Set-up will begin on Saturday, December 19 at 7 a.m. Packet pick-up will begin at 7:30 a.m. The race kicks-off at 9 a.m. Clean-up will take place at the conclusion of the event and be completed by 1 p.m.
Both the 5K and 10K will feature an elf receiving a 90-second head start. Runners that finish ahead of the elf will win a prize. This chip-timed event includes age-group awards, a long-sleeve shirt for participants, a kids race, Santa and an optional Secret Santa exchange.
Organizers are working on specific event components. All event logistics will adhere to Village guidelines and be reviewed and approved by the Village in advance of the event including participant parking, event security, Police and or Community Service Officer requirements, sound amplification limits, Village permits and fees.
The event is open to the public. Organizers expect 200 total participants.
Financial Impact
Organizers will be subject to all permits, staffing and rental fees applicable to the production of
this event.
