Title

ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 1-5-2 OF TITLE 1, CHAPTER 5 OF THE ORLAND PARK VILLAGE CODE (PRESIDING OFFICER, PRESIDENT PRO TEM)

Body

WHEREAS, the Corporate Authorities of the Village of Orland Park, an Illinois home rule municipality (the “Village”) deem it to be in the best interest of the Village and its residents to provide for election of a President pro tem by the Corporate Authorities of the Village annually in May of each year. 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Village President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Orland Park, Cook and Will Counties, Illinois, as follows:

SECTION 1

The third (3^rd) paragraph of Section 1-5-2 of Title 1, Chapter 5 of the Orland Park Village Code is hereby amended to provide in its entirety as follows:

“1-5-2: PRESIDING OFFICER, PRESIDENT PRO TEM:

                     The President may nominate and the Corporate Authorities shall by election designate one of the members of the Village Board of Trustees to serve as President pro tem, if necessary. Such nomination and election shall occur annually in May. 65 ILCS 5/3.1-35-35 (a).”

SECTION 2

This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage as provided by law.
