A RESOLUTION APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF CHANGE ORDERS TO THE CHRISTOPHER B. BURKE ENGINEERING, LTD. CONTRACT RELATING TO THE 151st STREET (RAVINIA AVENUE TO WEST AVENUE) WIDENING AND RECONSTRUCTION
Body
WHEREAS, The VILLAGE OF ORLAND PARK (“Village”) is a home rule unit of local government pursuant to Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution, and has the authority to exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs; and

WHEREAS, on September 25, 2017, the Village President and Board of Trustees of the Village approved and authorized the execution of a contract (‘Contract”) for acquisition and design services for the widening and reconstruction of 151st Street from Ravinia Avenue to West Avenue (“Project”) with Christopher B. Burke Engineering, Ltd. (“Contractor”). The original amount of the cost of the Project as set forth in the Contract was $99,972.90.

WHEREAS, the Village has determined that it is necessary and appropriate to change the contractual scope of the work to add to and include in the Project the roundabout at 151st Street and West Avenue intersection; and

WHEREAS, the change to the contractual scope of the work results in a cost increase for acquisition and design services of $53,802.59

WHEREAS, based on the recommendation of the Public Works and Building Maintenance Department of the Village, with the concurrence of the Contractor, the President and Village Board of Trustees make the following findings and determinations in accordance with 720 ILCS 5/33 E-9 regarding Change Order to the Contract:

a) The above referenced Change Order increases the Contract sum by more than $10,000.00.

b) This Change Order (a) is made necessary by circumstances not reasonably foreseeable at the time the contract was signed; (b) is germane to the Contract as originally signed; and

c) is in the best interests of the Village.
