ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING DISPOSAL OF PERSONAL PROPERTY (ELECTRONICS AND COMPUTER EQUIPMENT) OWNED BY THE VILLAGE OF ORLAND PARK, ILLINOIS

Body

Disposal of Village Equipment (Donation) - All Electronic and Computer Related Technology Items That are Outdated and/or No Longer Operating.

 

WHEREAS, the Village of Orland Park is the owner of personal property (Electronics and Computer Equipment) described on Exhibit A attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference that has exhausted its usable life and is obsolete; and

 

WHEREAS, the Corporate Authorities of the Village of Orland Park, Cook and Will Counties, Illinois, have decided that it is no longer necessary or useful for the Village of Orland Park to retain ownership of the personal property (Electronics and Computer Equipment) described on Exhibit A; and

 

WHEREAS, the Corporate Authorities have, therefore, decided that continued ownership of the electronic and computer equipment described on Exhibit A is not in the best interests of the Village of Orland Park; and

 

WHEREAS,  the Infinitec Assistive Technology Programs and Services (Infinitec), which is located in Tinley Park, Illinois, recycles donated computers and other technology.  Infinitec is the assistive technology program of the UCP Sequin of Greater Chicago.  The mission of Infinitec is to advance independence and promote inclusive opportunities for children and adults with disabilities through technology.  Infinitec helps people with disabilities get access to information, technology services, training, assistive equipment and specialists.  

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Orland Park, Illinois, as follows:

 

SECTION 1

 

The above recitals are hereby incorporated into this Section as fully as if they were set forth herein in their entirety.

 

SECTION 2

 

Pursuant to Section 11-76-4 of the Illinois Municipal Code, Illinois Compiled Statutes, 65 ILCS 5/11-76-4, the President and the Board of Trustees of the Village of Orland Park find that the items of personal property listed on Exhibit A (Electronic and Computer Equipment) now owned by the Village of Orland Park, Illinois, is no longer necessary or useful to the said Village and its best interests will be served by the disposal of such electronic and computer equipment by the Village Manager.

 

SECTION 3

 

Pursuant to the said Section 11-76-4, the Village Manager is hereby authorized to and may direct the disposal of the personal property to which Section 2 of this Ordinance refers by donating said personal property to the Infinitec Assistive Technology Programs and Services free of charge.  The electronic and computer property is to be disposed of “AS-IS” without warranties of any kind. In particular, the Village of Orland Park makes no warranties or representations expressed or implied about the performance ability of the equipment, about its present state of repair, about its condition or maintenance, or its merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.

 

SECTION 4

 

This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, by a vote of at least a simple majority of the Corporate Authorities, and approval in the manner provided by law.
