Police Department Emergency Electrical Projects
History
On March 5, 2024, power to the Police Department Server Room went down due to an overloaded circuit, which impacted the servers resulting in a Village-wide network outage. After investigating the issue, it was discovered that a number of circuits at the Police Station are overloaded largely due to the number of security cameras that have been installed over the years.
Public Works staff, in consultation with a preferred electrical contractor, determined that the installation of a new 100A panelboard, sixteen (16) new 30A circuits, and associated conduit/wiring/outlets must be installed to avoid future outages. As Public Works is already planning to install two (2) new 60A disconnect/circuits for the new Police Department IT Split System, it would make sense to do all of this work at the same time.
Public Works received quotes for all of the work described above for a total of $26,905.00 from Dav-Com Electric, Inc., which are attached for reference. To avoid another server room/network issue, and to be prepared for the split system install, Public Works is requesting the emergency approval of these proposals by the Village Board.
As such, Staff recommends approving these two (2) proposals from Dav-Com Electric, Inc. for a total of $26,905.00. A 10% contingency of $2,690.50 is requested to address change orders made necessary by circumstances not reasonably foreseeable at the time the proposal was signed, for a total contract price not to exceed $29,595.50.
Financial Impact
Funding is available in GL account 1008010-443200 for Electrical Repairs and Maintenance.
Recommended Action/Motion
I move to approve the proposals 24-165-10 and 24-165-12 from Dav-Com Electric, Inc. for electrical improvements at the Police Station from an amount not to exceed $29,595.50 ($26,905.00 plus a 10% contingency of $2,690.50);
